Letters to Santa
Guys, I think I found one of my new favorite traditions. My neighbor, Desi, hosted a party for the little kids last Sunday, and it was a lot of fun. She gathered together a bunch of helium filled balloons, and then had all the kids tie their letters for Santa to the letters. Then all the kids went outside and released them at the same time. Afterwards we had cupcakes and music and playing. It was a lot of fun, and such a simple idea. The girls loved it. They played with letting their balloons go over and over again inside the house.
Then we headed outside to let them go. You can see the picture where Violet realizes how high her balloon has travelled. She asked me, “How do we get it down?” I had to explain to her that we were just practicing in the house, and now the balloon was travelling to the North Pole for Santa. She found a cupcake and felt better!
Such a simple idea, and the kids loved it! It was a lot of fun, and exciting to see if all the balloons made it over the houses and out to the great beyond. Luckily no balloons popped in eyesight and all of the left the compound. It was a great holiday celebration.
