Project Frenzy

I have been trying to get projects done for Christmas, and everything else that needs to get done (or be fun!).  So here is an overview of what I have been trying to do while the girls are sleeping… at least the ones I can show you… some of you will have to wait until Christmas morning for your gifts!

This potholder has already been sent and recieved (yeah for Aunt LoLo meeting her weight loss goal!!!), I used this pattern, super fun and not too hard, except the many layers that needed to be sewn through:

I made a few of these, with my mom, for Halloween for my visiting teachees, using this tutorial, I LOVED how they turned out:

Sophie and I made these today.  Sophie had fun, mostly, I wish I could have found a way to make them go a little faster, she got a little bored half way through.  We got clear glass ornaments at the craft store, squeezed in acrylic paints and swirled them around until the insides were covered.  Unfortunately the paints didn’t “swirl” very quickly, I maybe should have used more paint inside, but there were already pools at the bottom when we were done.  Or maybe I needed thinner paints… next time I will try something a little differently.  But Sophie thought they were pretty ornaments when we were done so that is all that matters!

These last projects are Sophie’s Christmas presents… This first one is a bag (the crown is just because) that holds all these felt tangrams (I think that is what they are called), shapes that you can use to make designs and pictures… I figure they will be good church toys, quiet and lots of different ways to use them.  We also have been working on shapes and colors, so I think this will help us out a little.

Then I made another apron (that I got the pattern for at an Enrichment night) and then eggs and pancakes for her kitchen (do you know how hard it is to find the right color felt to make bacon slices?  Tricky, tricky):

I have one more homemade project for Sophie, and then we are just about finished with her gifts… these homemade things go with a few Disney items and a few things we have picked up over the last little while.  It feels really good to be almost done with her stuff… I was trying to be super prepared for the holidays this year, as I didn’t know how having a baby would affect my preparations… we’ll see how it all turns out!

  2. Did I mention how much I love my new potholder? ;-) It’s hanging on my fridge, and it’s the only one I use now. Yea!

    Love your felt food!
