I am taking this tag from my friend April P who got it from her sister Janelle. I thought it was interesting. So, though I am not reading their book group choice of 25 Mistakes LDS Parents Make and How to Avoid Them By Randal Wright, I did enjoy the thought of this tag.
Ezra Taft Benson said-
“If someone accused you of being Christian would there be enough evidence in your home to convict you?” I don’t know who said that….. But, I do know who said this,
Enter their homes, and the pictures on the walls, the books on their shelves, the music in the air, their words and acts reveal them as Christians.”
So here goes my attempt at this photo tag (I apologize for the quality of picture, it is late and I am not a professional!):
1.Please take a picture of the artwork in your home that would reveal you as a Christian and name it. What if we want that print too? We need the name of the artist.
This painting is by Greg Olsen, it is called “Wherever He Leads Me.” It is in the front entry way, first thing you see as you walk in. I love this print, the first piece of ART I have owned.
The next piece I got when I was in elementary school, I have no idea who created it, but I love it, it is my favorite picture of the Salt Lake Temple (which happens to be where I was married) but I especially love that Christ is in the background:
2. Take a picture of your bookshelf.
This is our first bookshelf, it is actually not filled with books, but with all my quilt and scrapbook (and other odds and ends for crafting) stuff:
This bookshelf is in our hallway, this is where most of our adult books are:
The next bookshelf is in our bedroom, we keep most of our favorite young adult books in here:
We have one more bookshelf in Sophie’s room, but Sophie was sleeping so take my word for it. In our 1 bedroom apartment in Jersey we had 5 bookshelves… we are crazy nuts… I don’t know what to tell you!
3. What is playing or is ready to be played in your ipod/cd player?
My ipod is in the car, and is set to play some chapter of Ender’s Game, I was listening to it at the gym. No picture, sorry.
4. Do you have framed words in your house or words on your walls? Take a picture.
Another crazy one for our family…
This is our copy of “The Living Christ” it sits in the front entryway:
Above our front doorway we have these words “Home is where your story begins…”:
For our wedding our friend Lynette made us this sampler:
Later I made this one:
Last, my favorite word in the house, also the Proclamation to the World:
5. Take a picture of your current project and describe it to us.
I have several projects in progress, one I can’t show because it is going to the quilter, one I can’t show because it is a surprise, my eternal scrapbook projects are shown in the bookshelf and here is the next quilt I will be working on, but I am determined to finish some other projects before I start this one:
6. Any further evidence you want to share – please do! What would a visitor ask you about if they entered your home?
My brother served in the Hong Kong, China mission. We had the privilege of going to “pick him up” and for Christmas after our trip, my brother gave us this gift:
We have this frame in our living room. We have a lot of people ask us how we got to be so lucky to travel to such a cool place and see the Great Wall and everything else, when they ask we are able to tell them about the service our young men do because of their belief in the truthfulness of our gospel. It is truly so amazing that a 19 year old boy could go out and serve.
Thank you Janelle and April for this fun tag. I tag anyone who would like to take the challenge!
